2022 – Situated at 4,800ft above sea level, the Zorzal winery is located in the Gualtallary subregion of the Uco Valley in Argentina. Their vineyards are laden with a mix of granite limestone, sand and stone that gives the fruit structure and a unique terroir based profile. Head winemaker/owner Juan Pablo Michelini ‘Juampi’ believes in capturing that structure while retaining the freshness of fruit without over extraction, providing more elegance and balance to their wines.
Zorzal Terroir Unico Rose of Pinot Noir sees a single day of skin contact to give the wine its pale pink color and utilizes native yeasts to build that sense of terroir. A bright, fresh strawberry, wild raspberry, Rainier cherry, floral and bright citrus aromas come bursting out of the glass w/ the first swirl. Red berry flavors are framed with blood orange citrus and crunchy minerals and the experience is complete with a dry, taut finish. This is very refreshing wine, good for pairing with a crunchy pomegranate/citrus salad, sauteed brook trout or toasted goat cheese crostini.
