2020 – The Penley Estate “Phoenix” Cabernet Sauvignon is a noticeably dark, inky red in the glass. The wine features lifted, full black berry fruit aromas of plum, black currants, wild blackberry, laced with notes of cocoa, ground coffee, anise and spice. It is pleasantly medium weighted to the palate with a mix of black plum and cherry liqueur that fills out the mouth feel and accentuates the dry earthy spices and velvety tannins. This is a great wine to have around when you need a wine that has teeth, but that is ready to go on demand. It will also help you keep warm on a cool fall evening and makes for a great pair with roasted game, venison, beef bourguignon or any meats with a hearty reduction.
