2021 –
Garofoli is one of the oldest wineries in the Marche region of Italy, established in 1871 by the Garofoli family. Located in the southeastern part of Marche, Garofoli has been a family-run establishment for five generations, with Carlo and Gianfranco Garofoli currently at the helm. The winery is renowned for its dedication to showcasing the native grape varieties of Marche, combining traditional winemaking methods with modern techniques to produce wines that truly reflect the characteristics of the region.
The 2021 Garofoli “Farnio” Rosso Piceno is a vibrant representation of the Rosso Piceno denomination, blending 70% Montepulciano and 30% Sangiovese grapes. Named after a picturesque mountain pass in the Monti Sibillini National Park—a favorite spot of Gianfranco Garofoli—the wine is crafted to capture the essence of this beloved landscape. It is vinified in stainless steel tanks and aged for 3-6 months, followed by an additional 3-4 months in the bottle, resulting in a wine with a robust structure and lively acidity. The Farnio exhibits flavors of red fruits and subtle earthy notes, making it an excellent companion to a wide range of dishes, from pasta with rich sauces to grilled meats and aged cheeses. This wine not only offers a taste of the Garofoli family’s legacy but also serves as a delightful introduction to the traditional wines of Marche. Delicious with spaghetti pomodoro, braised pork shoulder, pizza or burgers
