Finn went into full wine-geek mode and picked out some of his favorite wines from places and grape varietals which are a bit off the beaten path. No chance you won’t find a few new favorites here!
2019 Vina Maitia Aupa Pipeno – It’s an explosion of fruit juice, flowers and herbs. It’s always balsamic and spicy, and it has a soft palate with a juicy texture and defined, very primary flavors.
2018 Vina Maitia WEON Carignan – A savory aromas of black berry, black cherry, plum, licorice, mint and herbs and has a pleasant fresh fruit and aromatic mouth feel, inky mulberry texture, suede leather like tannins, watering acidity and a light spicy finish.
2019 Via Revolucionaria La Criolla Grande – The nose on this wine is dominated with fresh red berry aromatics of raspberry, red watermelon and nectarine. Light bodied, juicy red berry fruits, vibrant with a delicate finish. This is a true artistic expression from a wonderful winemaker, a wine to satiate your bohemian side.
2017 Bernabeleva Camino de Navaherreros – This organically grown wine is brilliant in the glass, displaying aromas of spice infused wild cherry, fall raspberry, red currant fruits in a compote with notes of smoke and orange zest.
2019 Ercole Barbera del Monferrato DOC – Many folks know the Barbera grape for its bright acidity, and this wine is no exception to the rule.
2016 Ver Sacrum GSM – The palate is juicy and lush with black fruits, currant, and fine grained tannins that lead to a light finish of clove and cinnamon.
