2020 – The Chateau d’Avrille, where famille Boiteau make the Anjou Rouge is technically in the AOC Anjou-Villages Brissac. Just on the fault line of where the slate soil meets the chalk from the Paris basin is where you have the Boitteau vineyards. This creates a pure mineral style of wine on the one side and a lush rich style on the other. They vinify each parcel separately to makes sure the blend shows a balanced picture of the wines of Anjou.
The Anjou Rouge comes from 25-30 years old vines. The blend is 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is made using no additives, and is macerated for 10 days in ambient temperature with ambient yeasts. It is non-filtered and is aged in stainless steel tanks.
