Think of the Chateau Page CdR as poor mans Chateauneuf du Pape. It delivers a traditional blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre coming from 35-60yr old vines. Only 3 tons of grapes are harvested per acre for this wine making it a concentrated Rhone that displays a crushed red velvet color with a blue-ish rim in the glass. Dark aromas of black currants, blackberry, cassis and plum are laced with white peppery spice, purple flower and licorice . It is medium bodied with a punch of black cherry like fruits, well balanced acidity, supple skin tannins and a long lingering spicy finish. Suggested pairings include rack of lamb tagine, a peppercorn crusted steak, a rich duck cassoulet or Achiote rubbed flank steak.
