2019 – This vintage of the Grand Retour Cotes du Rhone Villages “Plan de Dieu” was a sun drenched one for the estate and consequently the wine reveals a deep purple and reddish rim color when poured into the glass. You’ll find intense aromatics laced with a delicate white peppery spice that frames notes of black cherry, black currant, raspberry, plum and fresh herbs of rosemary, sage and violets. The wine boasts a deeply rich, complex mouthfeel with savory textures, plummy rich dark fruits, spice and a supple finish. Putting a slight chill on this when drinking by the glass makes for a sublime experience and it also is a beautiful wine for a wild mushroom galette, coq au vin, braised beef brisket or roasted duck breast.
